Arrived at the hotel, City Bayview Hotel to freshen up and off to Gurney Drive for dinner. Too many things to eat but different ppl have their own style of cooking Chay Kuey Tiew. Portions were small. So I would assumed, everyone “pakat” to cook smaller portions to make us order more. Can’t say it was delicious though.I was in dreamland by 9pm. Why? Coz we depart from the hotel at 2.30am. Bugger!!! We were located next to Momo & Slippery Senorita. As the bus was driving by, I was cursing away…I could be partying right now. We got to our venue USM at 3am. That’s where the Half Marathoners start. Mine was at RECSAM. Please note the location on the map. It’s about 20-25mins walking distance for me. Warmup. Grrr…My event only starts at 5.30am. So all I did was camp at the starting point. Grrr… My category was the Fun Run 10km. While school kids are the Quarter Run, also 10km. So all I see surrounding me were school kids, sleeping everywhere. And I mean everywhere. They just lay newspapers on the ground and just konk there.
We scuffled to the starting point when time was near. Then bang the run began. Err..i mean walk. These kids just loooveee to walk next to each other. All 5 of them. So for the 1stkm, all I did was maneuver around them. Quite a fair bit of emergency brakes (if u follow someone from behind, and they suddenly stop, u stop too or else whack)Once we turn out to the bridge, I was like wahhh….so niiceee…so loonngg…oh shit…It’s still dark at 6am. It’s gonna be a long run. There’s a point at the bridge where we’ll U-turn back. And the only thing I was thinking was “where the bloody hell is that turn”. It seemed like a memento to many ppl. So they were taking pictures & making out. *roll eyes* “Since we’re on the bridge, let’s kiss” It’s totally like the line “the world is coming to an end, you wouldn’t wanna die a virgin” oh please!!!!
At last, the final 1km to the finishing line. I tried to pick up pace. I missed my own qualifying time of 60mins. Reached at 65mins. Darn that 5mins! General qualifying time was 120mins. Went to get my goodie bag & free isotonic drink. Met up with my frens then started to head back to the bus. All I did after I got back to the hotel was soaked in the bathtub. Didn’t have the energy to even head down to the swimming pool. Lunch was somewhat ridiculous. Since I didn’t have time to go out for lunch, I went to the hotel restaurant for ala carte. A plate of fried rice cost RM20. Arrggh!! Broad daylight robbery. Departed Penang at 2pm and reach KL at 7pm. What a weekend. Will I do this again? U bet!!
